$1 billion It is anticipated that the Catawba casino resort near the South Carolina border will spur additional development in the area.

It is anticipated that a new $1 billion casino being built along Interstate 85 will spur more development in the neighbourhood.

Only five miles up I-85 from the state’s border with South Carolina, where casinos are prohibited, is the Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort location, which is 35 miles from Charlotte.

A 24-story hotel with 385 rooms will be part of the spread.

The casino, which will be constructed on a 17-acre plot of land, will open in stages. In spring 2026, it will have 1,350 slot machines, 20 gaming tables, a restaurant with 40 seats, a bar, and sports betting kiosks.

The existing temporary offering, which has been there since July 2021, will be replaced by the new location. The main casino complex is expected to open in 2027.

4,300 slot machines, 100 table games, 11 eating options, a players’ club, 11 bars, a 2,700-space parking garage, and an 800-space parking lot are all part of the main development. After it opens, it is anticipated that the casino would have about 2,000 employees.

When it is finished, the hotel will be connected to the gambling area. The hotel and casino complex’s foundations have been finished during the last 12 months. On-site, steel is still being put to the hotel tower. The Catawba Nation Gaming Authority is in charge of the project.
