Starting on Sunday, January 4, 2026, Taunton’s First Light Casino will operate from 10 a.m. to 8 a.m., the casino announced.
The casino is currently open every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Since the establishment’s first opening in January 2025, the casino’s hours of operation have been continuously extended.
“Whether you’re an early riser or just love getting a head start, we’ll be ready at First Light Casino,” the press release stated. The earlier opening hours, according to the casino, will provide guests “more time to play and enjoy your day with us.”

The casino’s expansion timeline
An intergovernmental agreement about the construction of a casino in Taunton was reached in 2012 by Taunton and the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe.
According to a copy of the IGA examined by the Gazette, the original 2012 agreement outlines a massive casino facility with 3,000 slot machines, 150 table games, and 40 poker tables in “phase 1” of the project. However, the project was put on hold for years due to a drawn-out legal dispute with neighbors, which the tribe finally won in 2024.
The tribe also said in 2024 that it would construct a “welcome center” on its Taunton property, more than ten years after the initial IGA was signed.
When it first opened in January 2025, the welcome center—which is made up of makeshift trailers—had just ten gaming machines. However, the facility’s machine count has been rising steadily.
