Ohio State Senator Nathan Manning has introduced SB197, a bill to legalize and regulate online casino gaming. If passed, it would allow casinos and racinos to offer iGaming and other internet-based gambling options.
Legislation to bring legal casino gaming on the internet has been introduced in yet another legislative session of the Ohio General Assembly.
This Monday, state Sen. Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) presented Senate Bill 197, which would allow and tax online gambling. If the measure is passed, online casinos featuring slots and interactive table games, such as poker, as well as online parimutuel wagering and iLottery, will become legal types of internet betting.

SB197 would allow the state’s four brick-and-mortar casinos—Jack Cleveland, Hollywood Columbus, Hard Rock Cincinnati, and Hollywood Toledo—as well as the seven permitted video lottery racinos—to pursue iGaming licenses on a single platform.
Bipartisan Support
iGaming is only permitted in seven states. Lawmakers in Ohio have been trying to join Connecticut, Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia in permitting adults to bet using computers and mobile devices for a number of legislative sessions.
