Doge Goon Waged War Against the Interior Department

Following widespread layoffs connected to Musk’s DOGE-affiliated team, BLM employees disobey an Interior Department memo that stops hiring. As the agenda shifts toward fossil fuels, tensions rise.

A personnel crisis at the Bureau of Land Management has devolved into open mutiny, with career employees ignoring instructions from a key Interior Department official linked to Elon Musk’s infamous DOGE enterprise.

Stephanie Holmes, a former member of Musk’s now-defunct Department of Government Efficiency and current acting chief human capital officer at the Interior Department, issued a memo instructing staff to stop temporarily filling hundreds of vacant positions—a move that workers say would cripple the agency following the DOGE-inspired mass departures.

BLM Deputy Director Michael Nedd, a 30-year agency veteran, pushed reply all, urging his staff to “ignore the email from HR,” according to numerous Politico sources. “The work is too important,” he reportedly remarked.

The BLM manages 245 million acres of federal property in the United States, as well as all of its timber, minerals, oil, and gas resources. Traditionally, it has served as the government’s arm for safeguarding natural, historical, and cultural treasures.

However, in April, BLM Secretary Doug Burgum handed over authority of the Interior to DOGE assistant Tyler Hassan, a longtime oil executive. Since then, some 2,300 staff have been laid off, and offices around the nation have been closed. Simultaneously, conservation measures have been abandoned in favour of increased fossil fuel exploitation.

The recent confrontation underscores the escalating tensions between experienced government employees and the DOGE team, which has infiltrated several administrative organizations throughout the government. So far, the agency has carried out thousands of layoffs, stripped the government of very important institutional expertise, and hurried to rehire some of its shamelessly and wrongly fired employees.
