The Seattle Mariners’ playoff run has increased traffic at the Tulalip Resort and Casino’s sportsbook.
Bets on Major League Baseball, especially the Mariners, are the cause of the notable spike.
In 2020, sports betting was legalized in Washington, and in September 2022, Tulalip Resort Casino launched its sportsbook.
Few local clubs have advanced to the championship rounds of the playoffs since then.
The Mariners’ playoff success has boosted online betting activity in addition to filling casino seats.
As a result, more fans are placing bets using mobile apps and in-person.
“Bets have definitely increased,” stated Brandon Jones, Tulalip Resort Casino’s sportsbook director. “In terms of total wagers, I believe there has been a roughly 33% surge in MLB wagers, specifically on the Mariners.”
Mobile sports betting on the site has increased as a result of fans being able to drive to the casino, place their bets, and then depart.
Jones stated that if the Mariners win the World Series, a noteworthy wager of $8,000 placed during the preseason might provide a payback of $160,000.
Jones, who oversees the sportsbook, balanced his personal fandom with the company’s financial interests when he discussed his conflicting emotions regarding the Mariners’ success: “We will prevail!”
