First Nation purchases a different local casino

Another property in British Columbia, the most recent one in Coquitlam, is being sold by Great Canadian Entertainment, the business that formerly owned Chances Maple Ridge. The Snuneymuxw First Nation, which struck an agreement to buy the Maple Ridge and River Rock casinos at the end of October, is purchasing the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam from GCE, which is regarded as one of the largest gaming companies in the nation.

The Haney Bingo Plex was replaced as the community’s main gambling establishment in 2013 by the Maple Ridge Chances, which is situated at 227 Street and Lougheed Highway. Nearly a year ago, the same First Nation and its fully owned company, Petroglyph Development Group (PDG), also purchased Elements Casino Victoria and Casino Nanaimo.

According to Chief Mike Wyse, Xum’silum, Snuneymuxw First Nation, PDG is anticipated to become one of the biggest casino operators in British Columbia by revenue once all the deals are finalized. It also hopes to become the biggest Indigenous-owned gaming operator in Canada, solidifying Snuneymuxw’s position as a major player in the province’s gaming sector.
