Illinois AG Raoul Forecasts Prairie State’s Online Casino Boom

Online casinos may be the next big gaming step in Illinois, according to Attorney General Kwame Raoul. Despite reservations from land-based casino operators, Illinois has the potential to overtake other states as the country’s iGaming leader due to its enormous revenue potential.

Attorney General Kwame Raoul of Illinois discussed earlier this month the possibility that internet casinos may open in the Prairie State, which could establish Illinois as the nation’s leading iGaming jurisdiction.

During a discussion at the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States (NCLGS) convention, Raoul made his forecast, stating that the next logical step for Illinois’ gaming business will be internet casinos.

How Would Illinois Be Affected by Online Casinos?

Online casinos are a rapidly expanding industry that brings in a lot more money for their operators than sports betting. But only in seven states—Conn., Delaware, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and West Virginia—are they permitted. Why so few? competition, in general, from land-based casinos.

There is concern that opening an online casino in a state where there are physical casinos (often known as “retail”) could hurt their bottom line by lowering their income. Nonetheless, the huge sums of money that internet casinos may produce might influence policymakers.

Illinois May Become the Top State for Online Casino Revenue

PlayUSA estimates that Illinois may be the largest iGaming industry in the nation, bringing in an average of over $300 million a month, based on population and revenue data from the seven states with licensed online casinos.
