Maryland Casinos Report Strong May, Marking the Seventh Best Month on Record

In May 2025, Maryland’s casino industry experienced rapid expansion, bringing in $176.4 million. $76.1 million was contributed to the state, with significant increases for local economic development and education initiatives.

Maryland’s six casinos performed well in May 2025, producing a total of $176.4 million in revenue from slot machines and table games, according to Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency data.

The sum is the seventh-highest monthly income since casino gambling began in the state, with a 1.9% rise over May 2024.

The improvements extended to state coffers, as casino donations totaled $76.1 million for the month, up $1.7 million, or 2.2%, over the same period the previous year.

Of the total, $54.9 million was sent to the state’s Education Trust Fund, which witnessed a 2.2% rise year on year, or around $1.2 million.

In addition to funding education, casino gaming proceeds also finance local governments, Maryland’s horse racing sector, and initiatives for small, minority, and women-owned companies.

Among individual locations, MGM National Harbour in Prince George’s County topped the way with $75.4 million in revenue, up 4.3% from May 2024.

Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County followed with $63.9 million, a 1.8% decrease year on year.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore earned $15.2 million, up 3.4% from last May, while Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County earned $8.3 million, a 6.4% increase.

Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County had a 5% increase, reaching $8.8 million.
