New York Casinos Hit $63M in May, Second-Best Month Ever

With $63 million in revenue, May was the second-best month ever for the casino industry in New York. Despite having fewer gaming units, all four commercial casinos reported gains, primarily from increased activity in slot and table games.

The present casino industry is thriving, and New York is aiming to expand its casino industry in the state. For the Empire State’s casinos, May was a memorable month.

May was the second-best month for New York casinos ever, with a staggering $63 million in total gaming revenue.

The state’s restricted casino concept is succeeding, as seen by the 10% increase from the $57 million in May of the previous year.

All 4 casinos saw increases

All four commercial casinos stepped up their game in May, as lawmakers ponder adding New York internet casinos to the state’s gaming options.

Leading the pack was Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady, which generated $19.7 million in gaming revenue in May, up from $18.4 million in April. The majority of it came from slots, where gamers risked more than $182 million.

Resorts World Catskills followed closely after with $18 million in sales, up 6% from the previous month.

But the actual highlight of May was the del Lago Resort & Casino. The casino that serves Rochester and Syracuse recorded a 19% revenue gain over April, totaling $15 million.

Finally, Tioga Downs Casino Resort brought in $10 million, a 4% increase over April.

Slots and electronic games do well.

In May, slot machines and electronic table games generated the most revenue, $45.4 million, up from $42.3 million in April.

Last month, gamblers spent more than $576 million on slots and electronic table games, up $53 million from the previous month. That was despite the fact that 12 fewer units were in operation (5,202 vs. 5,214 in April). The average daily win per device increased from $270 to $281.

Players wagered $76.2 million on table games, up from $70 million in April.
