Ohioans Will Be Able to Bet Online Using Casino and Lottery Games

Ohio is considering a significant iGaming expansion that would incorporate online lotteries, casinos, and poker. As public sentiment shifts and budget talks continue, lawmakers view digital gambling as a contemporary source of income.

A measure has been presented in Ohio that would extend internet gambling beyond sports betting to include money-making poker or casino games, as well as lottery games and horse race betting on phones or computers.

Sen. Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) submitted the measure on Tuesday, and it will be revealed on Wednesday in the newly formed Senate Select Committee on Gaming. House Finance Chair Brian Stewart (R-Ashville) announced last week that he is working on a measure to legalize iGaming in Ohio, with the purpose of earning extra state income.

Senate President Rob McColley (R-Napoleon) stated that iGaming and iLottery are being considered as the budget process continues.

“I believe the tone and tenor of some of these issues have shifted since ten years ago. I believe that many Ohioans would like to have greater control over how they spend their money and recreational time. “I think we’ll talk about it,” McColley added. “The House included open-ended aspirational language in the budget. We’re having chats with them about what they meant by it. So we’ll see where we wind up.

The same is true for McColley’s Republican House colleague.

Speaker Matt Huffman (R-Lima) stated, “I think we’ve kind of turned the corner and said, we’re going to raise money from gambling.” “And these were definitely forbidden topics if you asked them thirty years ago. However, I believe that the majority of the public and public authorities agree that consumers want services and do not want to pay taxes. And how can one resolve that dilemma? Increasing revenue in a different way is one method. Additionally, one is through gambling.
