Online gaming helped Pennsylvania’s gambling industry hit a record-breaking $6.4 billion in revenue. Fueling nearly $2.8 billion in tax revenue for essential state programs, this represents a $500 million increase over the previous year.
Over the previous year, Pennsylvania’s gambling industry has grown even more, as the commonwealth reported record-breaking $6.4 billion in revenue since July 2024.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reports that the Keystone State broke its previous record by almost $500 million. Slot machines, casino table games, sports betting, fantasy sports competitions, internet gambling, and video game terminals account for the majority of the overall revenue.
With $2.48 billion in revenue, internet gaming surpassed slot machines as the commonwealth’s biggest gambling moneymaker for the first time. State officials estimate that the entire income from slot machines was around $2.44 billion.
After Pennsylvania became one of the first states in the US to permit online casinos, the state opened its first casino in 2019.
From July 2024 to June 2025, the state’s gaming tax income was close to $2.8 billion, up from around $2.5 billion in the previous fiscal year.
According to the commission, the state uses these monies for economic development, lowering homeowner property taxes for schools, promoting horse racing, and other budget priorities.
