We’ve almost made it, though. The end of 2025 is just a few days away. For those of us who don’t think we’ll make it to New Year’s, we can use our preferred prediction market to place a financial hedge on the earth collapsing or something similar.
In the world of gambling, 2025 has undoubtedly been the year of the prediction market, but there have also been a lot of other things. The player-prop scandal, the New York casino licensing, and the massive sweepstakes crackdown have all occurred this year.
It has undoubtedly been the most cease-and-desist year we can recall.

In this piece, we’ll highlight the 12 individuals that had the biggest influence on the gambling industry in 2025. And when we say “single out,” we don’t mean to mention a whole business, a trade association, or even a pair.
It’s true that Time Magazine named “the architects of AI” Person of the Year. As of our last check, “The architects” is not a “person.”
Speaking of Time, its Person of the Year award does not always go to a person who made a good contribution, and this is also true. others of these twelve awardees were suitable for gaming, others weren’t, and some are debatable.
