This has taken the shape of larger-scale situations like Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups in the federal gambling case presently under investigation, or little ones like Jontay Porter betting on his own unders and then purposefully underperforming.
As a result, the NBA is frantically trying to figure out how to keep sports gambling profitable while discouraging players from breaking the laws by joining themselves. Even while they probably won’t be able to completely eliminate it, it seems like they have identified some areas for improvement.

According to the letter that ESPN was able to receive, the NBA sought feedback from teams and discussed a number of possible modifications with the board of governors before choosing six areas that might be changed. According to the memo, the league intends to improve its gambling education program, implement new policies to shield players, coaches, and team staff from harassment by sports bettors, and strengthen its capacity to look into unusual betting activity in addition to tanking, injury reporting, and prop bets.
