The Swedish Gambling Authority Launches Further Oversight for Operators

The Swedish Gambling Authority is actively monitoring licensed gambling enterprises to ensure that users are being appropriately revealed following a significant audit. Recent enforcement measures include blacklisting unlicensed websites and requesting compliance data from large operators.

The Swedish Gambling Authority (Spelinspektionen) has imposed a need to give information to many gambling enterprises.

According to information posted on the regulator’s official website, authorities have launched a supervisory process to determine whether existing license holders are fully compliant with the regulations governing the type and clarity of information that must be made available on their respective websites.

This evaluation aims to verify that the obligatory disclosures are correctly provided and available to users in accordance with current legal and regulatory standards.

A few days ago, the Swedish Gambling Authority blacklisted three unlicensed gambling enterprises – EOD Code SRL, Igloo Ventures SRL, and MIBS NV – for unlawfully targeting Swedish customers.

These steps are being implemented in response to a study issued earlier in 2025 by the Swedish National Audit Office, which revealed significant flaws in the present system. The research determined that supervisory efforts fell short of the criteria and objectives set by the Riksdag and the government during the 2019 re-regulation of the gaming industry.

In its reaction, the Swedish Gambling Authority acknowledged the report’s findings and noted that it has had challenges in adopting effective supervision mechanisms.

Lotto, Polar, 888 Sweden, Mr Green, PinBet, and other licensees must supply information in the current request, which will be made in the spring.

Depending on the conclusion, the findings may justify an intervention.
